There’s something magical about beauty rituals that nourish you both inside and out. This DIY banana avocado hair mask is one of my favorite examples: a creamy, pudding-like blend of banana, avocado, honey, and a few other beautifying ingredients that doubles as a delicious snack and a deep conditioning treatment for your hair.
Whether you’re looking to hydrate dry strands, add shine, or simply indulge in some self-care, this recipe has you covered… literally!
Let’s break down the star ingredients of this banana avocado hair mask and why they’re so amazing for both your body and your hair:
Rich in potassium and natural oils, bananas help soften hair, add moisture, and reduce frizz. They’re also full of vitamins like B6 and C, which can support healthy hair growth and scalp function.
Avocados are packed with healthy fats, vitamin E, and amino acids. When applied topically, they help strengthen the hair shaft, reduce breakage, and deeply nourish each strand. Internally, they support skin health, hormone balance, and hydration.
Honey is a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture into the hair and helps seal it in. It also has antibacterial properties that can calm a flaky or irritated scalp.
Rose has long been used in Ayurvedic and Persian beauty rituals for its hydrating, soothing properties. It’s especially helpful for irritated scalps or dry hair, and it adds the most beautiful floral aroma.
Cardamom is antimicrobial and antifungal which is great for scalp health! It also stimulates circulation, which may support healthier hair growth. It also is one of my favourite flavours, which is a bonus.
Instead of using frozen bananas, I like to toss in a handful of ice cubes. It gives the pudding a creamier texture and makes it feel more like a decadent dessert than a hair treatment.
This recipe is ridiculously simple to make and so tasty! Here’s how to make it:

Afterwards, your hair will feel incredibly soft, bouncy, and shiny. Plus, you’ll know that every ingredient that touched your scalp is safe enough to eat. That’s the kind of beauty I believe in.
I love that this mask invites you to slow down, enjoy a moment of nourishment, and connect with the ingredients you’re using. I hope you try it out!
